ABOUT LEAPHOPE.IN
About LeapHope.in
How is LeapHope.in connected to LeapHope.com?
LeapHope.in is a sister brand of LeapHope.com, created specifically for online marriage, couples and relationship counselling. It brings LeapHope’s counselling experience into a specialist platform for Indian couples and NRIs.
Is LeapHope.in a therapist marketplace or a specialist marriage counselling platform?
LeapHope.in is a specialist online marriage counselling platform, not an open therapist marketplace. It works with psychologists and marriage counsellors selected for relevant qualifications, couples-specific expertise and professional experience.
What qualifications do marriage counsellors on LeapHope.in have?
Our marriage counsellors include experienced marriage and couples specialists with advanced psychology qualifications, including PhD, M.Phil. and postgraduate training, RCI-registered Clinical Psychologists, and professionals trained in recognised evidence-based couples therapy approaches.
How experienced are marriage counsellors on LeapHope.in?
Marriage counsellors on LeapHope.in have at least 5 years of relevant professional experience. Senior specialists bring 10, 20 or 25+ years of experience across psychology, clinical practice and relationship counselling.
How does LeapHope.in maintain clinical quality in marriage counselling?
LeapHope.in follows a structured, clinically led model. Therapists are selected for relevant qualifications, at least 5 years of professional experience, marriage and couples expertise, evidence-based practice and the ability to work sensitively with Indian and NRI relationships.
Is LeapHope.in specifically designed for Indian couples and NRIs?
Yes. LeapHope.in provides culturally aware online marriage counselling for Indians and NRIs, including concerns involving in-laws, arranged marriages, family expectations, marital adjustment, intimacy, finances, relocation and separation decisions.
THERAPISTS & CLINICAL APPROACH
Marriage Therapists & Therapy Approaches
Can I check a therapist’s qualifications, experience and therapy approaches before booking?
Yes. LeapHope.in therapist profiles show professional qualifications, years of experience, marriage and couples specialisation, languages, session details and relevant therapy approaches, so you can review who you are booking before choosing a session.
How do couples choose the right marriage therapist on LeapHope.in?
Couples choose their therapist directly. You can compare each professional’s marriage and relationship experience, qualifications, languages and therapy approaches, then book the therapist whose background best fits what you want to work on.
Which evidence-based couples therapy approaches are used at LeapHope.in?
Depending on the therapist and relationship concern, our couples therapy work may include Gottman-informed interventions, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Couple Therapy, Family Therapy, CBT, REBT, SFBT, mindfulness and other recognised psychological approaches.
How does a therapist decide which couples therapy approach to use?
The approach depends on the couple’s concerns, recurring relationship patterns, individual psychological factors and the therapist’s professional training. LeapHope.in does not use one fixed therapy method for every couple or marriage problem.
How is marriage counselling handled when an individual psychological issue is affecting the relationship?
When anxiety, trauma, anger, depression or another individual concern is affecting the relationship, the therapist can consider both the relationship pattern and the individual difficulty. Individual support may also be recommended when appropriate.
INDIAN MARRIAGE CONCERNS
Marriage Counselling in the Indian Family Context
Can marriage counselling help with problems caused by in-laws or extended family?
Yes. Counselling can address boundaries with parents and in-laws, divided loyalties, interference in couple decisions, living arrangements and situations where one partner feels the extended family is being given priority over the marriage.
Can counselling help when one spouse is always expected to “adjust” after marriage?
Yes. Therapy can help couples distinguish healthy compromise from one-sided adjustment involving career, household duties, family customs, friendships, privacy or independence, and develop clearer expectations that consider both partners.
Can counselling help couples in arranged marriages who discover major differences after marriage?
Yes. Arranged-marriage couples may discover important differences in personality, intimacy, finances, family roles or lifestyle only after marriage. Counselling can help identify what can be negotiated and what each partner needs from the relationship.
Can counselling help when husband and wife disagree about careers, independence or household roles?
Yes. Counselling can address disagreements about employment, relocation, financial independence, domestic work, childcare and decision-making, particularly when family expectations conflict with how one or both partners want their marriage to work.
Can counselling help when financial responsibilities towards parents or siblings affect the marriage?
Yes. Couples can work through disagreements about supporting parents, siblings or extended family, hidden spending, unequal financial responsibilities and situations where wider family obligations create resentment between spouses.
Can counselling help when family pressure about pregnancy or having children affects the marriage?
Yes. Counselling can help couples manage pressure about when to have children, fertility concerns, repeated family questions and disagreements about parenthood while keeping these decisions between the partners themselves.
Can counselling help an inter-caste or interfaith couple facing family opposition?
Yes. Relationship counselling can help couples discuss family opposition, religious or cultural expectations, boundaries, celebrations, children and loyalty conflicts while deciding together how much influence each family should have.
Can living with parents or in-laws affect privacy and intimacy in a marriage?
Yes. Shared households can reduce privacy, couple time and physical intimacy while increasing family involvement in everyday decisions. Counselling can help partners establish boundaries without treating family closeness itself as the problem.
TRUST, DISTANCE & MARRIAGE DECISIONS
When the Marriage Feels Difficult or Uncertain
Can counselling help when the marriage works practically but the emotional connection is gone?
Yes. Some couples manage work, children, finances and family duties well but no longer feel emotionally close. Counselling can explore what created the distance and the patterns affecting affection, conversation, trust and connection.
Can marriage counselling help after an affair, secret chats or other forms of broken trust?
Yes. Our infidelity counselling can address affairs, emotional infidelity, secret communication, lying and repeated suspicion. The work may focus on understanding what happened, managing the impact of betrayal, setting boundaries and deciding whether trust can realistically be rebuilt.
Can counselling help when one spouse wants separation but family pressure is pushing them to stay married?
Yes. Counselling gives both partners space to examine the marriage separately from pressure from parents, relatives or social expectations. The aim is greater clarity about the relationship, not automatically keeping the couple together.
Can I start marriage counselling if my husband or wife refuses to attend?
Yes. One partner can begin relationship counselling alone. Individual sessions can help you understand recurring patterns, boundaries, emotional reactions and decisions within the marriage, even when your spouse is not ready to participate.
Will a LeapHope therapist tell us whether we should stay married or get divorced?
No. A LeapHope therapist does not make that decision for you. Counselling can help both partners understand the relationship, possible changes, unresolved concerns and realistic options so decisions about reconciliation or separation remain with the couple.
Can couples discuss sex, intimacy and sexual dissatisfaction privately with a LeapHope therapist?
Yes. Couples can discuss low desire, reduced affection, sexual dissatisfaction, mismatched expectations, pornography, intimacy after childbirth and other sensitive concerns. These conversations are handled professionally and without treating sexual difficulties as something shameful.
NRI COUPLES
Marriage Counselling for Indians Living Abroad
Can an Indian couple attend LeapHope counselling while living in two different countries?
Yes. Indian and NRI couples can attend the same online marriage counselling session while living in different countries. Each partner can join separately, making counselling possible during long-distance marriage, relocation or temporary separation.
Does LeapHope work with arranged marriages where one spouse moved abroad after marriage?
Yes. Counselling can address difficulties that emerge after an arranged marriage followed by relocation, including isolation, dependence, unfamiliar expectations, lifestyle differences, limited support and relationship differences that become clearer after living together.
Can counselling help with NRI marriage problems involving relocation, isolation or responsibilities towards family in India?
Yes. NRI marriage counselling can address relocation stress, isolation, different rates of cultural adjustment, decisions about returning to India, financial support for parents and conflict when wider family responsibilities affect the couple.
Can NRI couples choose a therapist who understands Indian family and cultural expectations?
Yes. NRI couples can review our couples therapists and choose a professional whose experience, languages and approach fit their needs. Relevant concerns may include parents, in-laws, arranged marriage, family obligations, marital roles and cultural adjustment after moving abroad.
Can couples attend LeapHope marriage counselling across different time zones?
Yes. Couples can attend from different countries and time zones. Available appointment times are shown in the selected local time zone, so partners can choose a session that works for both of them before booking.
PRIVACY, SCOPE & SAFETY
Confidentiality and Professional Boundaries
Is online marriage counselling with LeapHope confidential?
Yes. Marriage counselling is handled confidentially within the professional and ethical responsibilities applicable to the therapist. Limited exceptions may apply where there is a serious safety concern or disclosure is required by law.
Will LeapHope share my counselling information with parents, in-laws or other family members?
No. Counselling information is not shared with parents, in-laws or extended family simply because they are involved in the marriage. Adult clients retain privacy over their counselling, subject to professional and legal confidentiality limits.
What happens to information shared privately during an individual session within couples counselling?
Policies for private disclosures can differ between couples therapists. The therapist should explain how confidentiality and information shared in individual sessions will be handled before separate meetings take place.
How does a LeapHope therapist remain neutral when both partners describe the marriage differently?
The therapist does not simply decide which partner is right. Both perspectives can be explored while attention stays on behaviour, recurring patterns, emotional responses and each partner’s role in the relationship. Neutrality does not require ignoring harmful behaviour.
Does LeapHope provide legal advice about divorce, custody, dowry or NRI marriage law?
No. LeapHope provides psychological and relationship counselling, not legal advice. Questions about divorce, custody, dowry, maintenance, property or cross-border marriage law should be discussed with an appropriately qualified legal professional.
Is couples counselling appropriate when there is domestic violence, coercion or fear in the relationship?
Not always. Active violence, coercive control or serious fear can make joint couples counselling inappropriate or unsafe. The therapist may recommend individual support, safety-focused intervention or another appropriate service before considering joint sessions.
Does LeapHope guarantee that marriage counselling will save a marriage?
No. LeapHope does not guarantee reconciliation or any particular relationship outcome. Counselling can help couples understand patterns, work on meaningful changes and make clearer decisions, but the outcome depends on the people and circumstances involved.
SESSIONS & BOOKING
Starting Marriage Counselling With LeapHope
Can parents or family members book marriage counselling for an adult couple?
Yes. A family member may help arrange or pay for counselling, but the adult person or couple attending must participate voluntarily and communicate directly with the therapist. Paying for a session does not give a family member access to confidential counselling information.
Can I book LeapHope marriage counselling as an individual or as a couple?
Yes. You can begin individually for a marriage or relationship concern, or attend a couples session with your partner. You do not need to wait for both partners to agree before seeking support for yourself.
Do both partners need to attend the first marriage counselling session?
No. Counselling may begin with one partner or with the couple together. The therapist can then discuss whether future sessions are better continued individually, jointly or through a combination of both.
What happens in the first marriage counselling session at LeapHope?
The first session focuses on why you sought counselling, the main relationship concerns, recurring patterns and what you want to change. The therapist then discusses how future sessions may be structured and whether individual, joint or combined work would be most appropriate.
Are LeapHope marriage counselling sessions recorded?
No. LeapHope marriage counselling sessions are not recorded. Video or audio is used only for the live counselling session and is not retained as a session recording by LeapHope.
Which languages are available for marriage counselling on LeapHope.in?
Marriage counselling is currently available in English, Hindi and Assamese, depending on the therapist selected. Each therapist profile shows the languages in which they conduct sessions.
Can both partners join a couples counselling session from separate locations?
Yes. Partners can join the same online couples counselling session from separate devices and locations. This can work well for long-distance couples, NRIs, work travel or partners temporarily living in different cities or countries.
How often should couples attend marriage counselling?
Session frequency depends on the concern, its intensity and the therapist’s assessment. Some couples begin with regular sessions and reduce the frequency as the work progresses.
How many marriage counselling sessions might a couple need?
There is no fixed number. A focused communication concern may require fewer sessions than long-standing conflict, infidelity, emotional distance or separation-related concerns. The therapist can review progress with the couple and discuss whether continued sessions are useful.
